Business disconnection scam
This frequent scam is easy to spot and avoid.
An all too common scam is one that targets small businesses such as restaurants or retail.
In this scam, the business owner receives a phone call or text from someone claiming to be from ENMAX. The business owner is then told that their power will be immediately cut off due to unpaid bills.
Don't fall for this scam.
First, ENMAX does not disconnect power without fair warning and process.
Second, we do not:
- Accept cash payments at a kiosk.
- Ask for credit card details over the phone or text.
- Accept payment by bitcoin
If you receive a suspicious phone all or text, do not give out any personal details. If you are unsure about the legitimacy of a call or text, or would like to check your account balance, please call out Customer Care Center at 310-2010 or sign in to your online account.
