ENMAX committed to advancing ESG goals

ENMAX is committed to energy affordability, advancing electrification, reducing emissions, adapting to a changing climate and investing in grid resilience – all while enabling a diverse and inclusive team and ensuring continued access to safe and reliable energy.

As enablers of the energy transition, ENMAX is committed to meeting customer expectations around electrification and choice. ENMAX has worked hard to reduce its carbon footprint for years and operates one of the most efficient natural gas generation portfolios in Alberta.

Since ENMAX issued its first Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, it has made progress on targets moving us closer to a cleaner energy future including securing funding for a carbon capture feasibility study at Canada’s largest commercial-scale natural gas combined-cycle facility and reducing scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions toward its net-zero target and launching a partnership with the University of Regina’s Prairie Adaptive collective to developer a new climate model for Calgary region to help prepare the grid for extreme weather and improved resiliency.

ENMAX contributes funding to Alberta community organizations every year including support for energy affordability programs, essential needs funding, energy efficiency education and conservation programs, with 36 per cent of its community investment budget dedicated to supporting customers at the various stages of the energy affordability life cycle.

As part of its ESG framework, ENMAX works to foster a culture of inclusion that embraces diversity and allows everyone to feel respected, valued and like they belong. Its three-year Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging roadmap outlines a plan to foster unique perspectives that enhance culture, spark creativity, foster innovation and create value while reflecting the communities it serves.
