Load limiter or electricity limiter guide

When temperatures are extremely cold or hot, electricity will not be disconnected.

However, a load limiter or electricity limiter will be attached to your meter during those times.

Load limiters or electricity limiters reduce the flow of electricity. The limiter allows your furnace fan and a few lights to run so you can have heat during the winter. If too much electricity is used, the limiter will shut off electricity completely.

Resetting a load limiter:

  1. Turn off ALL electrical devices (appliances, lights. etc).
  2. Locate your electric meter.
  3. Find the orange plunger underneath the load/electricity limiter.
  4. To reset the limiter, pull the plunger out and push it back in

To have the load/electricity limiter removed and full electricity restored:

  1. Make a payment of your balance in full at:
    • Any financial institution (in-person or online), or
    • City Cashier, 800 Macleod Trail SE, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (weekdays)
  2. Confirm your payment using our online form, or by email to payments@enmax.com
  3. We will contact you to confirm that your proof of payment has been received and a reconnection has been issued.
