Supporting customers with affordability

Across our communities, we’re all experiencing a rising cost of living. We recognize that utilities are an important part of your monthly budget. Our focus is helping you remain connected to the energy you need every day.

Making energy accessible

Energy affordability is a complex challenge that requires collaboration with industry, government and partnership agencies. We have a role in making energy accessible to all by addressing the different stages of the affordability lifecycle: conservation, prevention and crisis support.

Conservation is about reducing energy consumption through energy efficiency solutions, tools, education and awareness. Did you know we support the Alberta Ecotrust Foundation’s Home Upgrades Program? Find out if you are eligible for free home retrofits. We also support Green Calgary’s energy efficiency workshops, free to attend. You can also check out our Energy Savings Tips for hotter and colder weather.

Prevention is programming to reduce barriers to affordable energy access. We maintain and explore programs such as increased flexibility for fixed income customers and security deposit waivers. Sign in to your online account to check payment options such as our equalized payment program or contact us for payment support. The sooner you take steps to addressing an overdue balance or an upcoming payment concern, the more options you have.

Crisis support is about providing relief to customers through agency partnerships and financial assistance. Our dedicated payment support team members understand our community resources and are trained to handle situations with care and compassion. Customers can always call, text or chat with 2-1-1 as the place to start for community resources in Alberta.

Making a difference

As part of our commitment to support energy affordability efforts, we continue to focus on basic needs funding through support of our longstanding community partners, Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary, Bissell Centre (Edmonton), Distress Centre Calgary, Trellis Society and the United Ways of Calgary, Central Alberta (Red Deer) and Lethbridge.

Maintaining our funding to these agencies and others in key communities where we operate means that more families and individuals will have access to support for essential needs and services. One-third of our community investment budget supports energy affordability.

Our customers are at the core of our decision-making as we balance affordability, reliability and sustainability. If you need support, visit our Affordability page for more information.
